Buellton

Buellton is located half way between Santa Barbara and Santa Maria off of Highway 101. Located just miles from the coast, yet inland near ranches and vineyards, Buellton is a city built at the crossroads. Established 1920, Buellton was the last of the five towns of the Santa Ynez Valley to become a verified "town". While the "town of Buellton" was not established until 1920, the area of "Buellton" had been around since the mid 1860's when R.T. Buell and his Brother Alonzo purchased a quarter of the 26,000 acre Rancho San Carlos De Jonata. Eventually, as parts of the Ranch were sold off, more people began moving in, and a downtown was formed. The arrival of HWY 101 through town put Buellton on the Map. By 1920 Buellton was well on its way to the city we see today. Buellton became an incorporated city on February 1, 1992 and it currently has a population of 3,900 people. Buellton now boasts a productive and unique atmosphere blending agricultural, industrial and residential elements. Always growing and always changing, R.T. Buell may not recognize the ranch he used to call home but you should come see why this unique central coast community may be the one for you!
